Lots of West Ham fans have been taking aim at the club infrastructure around recruitment and players as Joe Cole spoke out about the board and the current situation.
Just how is it going SO wrong at West Ham?
“The fans aren’t hard to please. They want players who have fight, graft, and flair.”
“I’ve seen too many players go to West Ham and have a holiday!” 😮
You can tell Joe Cole still really cares about his former club…#FACupTonight pic.twitter.com/n0hG4wWNes

The Academy of Football product openly criticised the recruitment of the board, defended David Moyes and rightly, the supporters for not actually being demanding at all.
Later, ExWHUemployee backed up what Cole had said and also revealed that Sullivan and Gold have one scout and some trusted agents and most deals go through them with a lack of strategy.
This is exactly what I’ve been saying on the podcast about recruitment and they couldn’t have said it better. We have one scout, most deals are through their “trusted” agents and literally depends on who they can get and is never ever strategic-it’s reactionary-a complete mess🤦🏻♂️ https://t.co/RQt2yP9dfg

With no more than a few days of the window remaining, it looks like the board have either ignorantly decided not to add to a shattered squad or are incompetent when it comes to recruitment.
Poor recruitment for years.
Very telling that the last player we sold for a decent fee to a decent club was Scotty Parker to spurs… shows how our signing has performed over the years. Fading not flourishing.

We moved to be bigger yet now we still sit bang in trouble no scouting network, no strategy for taking the club forward on the pitch. Where is all the extra revenue where is the money being spent because it is not being seen on the pitch?

But ex, this has been building for years. They have never had a long term plan. Most windows have been scatter gun. If you don’t have a strategy and plan (like teams like Brentford, Leicester etc) how can you possibly succeed?

A premier league club with 1 scout is shocking why do they feel they don’t need any
— Danny Nevill (@danny_nevill) January 26, 2020
…and tragically uncoordinated. It was Brady who cut costs by slashing and burning everything. It was Brady who didn’t plan on scouts, coaches, physios etc. So, no matter how much Sullivan may be playing at talent manager, he’s being advised by agents, with vested interests…

..reset. This really could take years to turn around, especially if we go down. It is hard for any of us to take the atrocious mess that we have become. Abject on the pitch, arrogant and clueless in the Boardroom. This is our club and we need to fight to get our identity back ⚒

The more all of this comes up about our lack of scouts etc, the more I hate Brady and realise Sullivan is simply a rich idiot. After all, she is chief executive with strategic planning as part of her remit. Yet more and more we seem West Ham’s situation revealed to be inept…

Amateur is the word that springs to mind, oh, and pathetic.

Its shocking, even the way let youngsters go, why was browne sold? holland, cullen and diangana all gone out on loan. All players with pace and energy that is what we are missing! You dont need to spend big money when we have such a decent youth system
