Reliable West Ham source ExWHUemployee has claimed that he is “surprised” by Manuel Pellegrini’s team selection to face Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Hammers will face the Magpies in a 3pm kick off in east London, and while there are no specific details of Pellegrini’s starting XI yet, Ex has made it clear that the Chilean’s decision is an unexpected one.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, he said: ‘I won’t comment this early but I’m surprised what he has done.”

OPINION

Clearly, we have no details as of yet as to what Pellegrini has actually gone with in his starting XI, but it’s fair to say that if Ex, one of the best inside sources in the business, is caught off guard then it must be pretty unexpected. Any kind of guess as to the content of that surprise would be pure supposition prior to the team news coming out at about 2pm. One area of debate this week, however, has been whether or not Robert Snodgrass would keep his place in the starting lineup. The Scot was instrumental in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United last weekend, scoring the Hammers’ goal and registering a Whoscored rating of 7.55. In fact, he was so good that it would be a bit of a shock if he was dropped. Could that be what Ex is talking about?
