West Ham United are ready to sanction the January exit of midfielder Carlos Sanchez, according to Football Insider.
The reputable football outlet claim on their website that the Colombian international has made little impression on Manuel Pellegrini in the 18 months since he joined the club on a free-transfer when leaving Fiorentina.
Football Insider report that West Ham are willing to let the 33-year-old leave the club if any interested party meets their valuation of £3.5million after only starting twice this season in the two Carabao Cup fixtures.
The experienced £50,000-a-week midfielder [Spotrac] missed the majority of his first season at the London Stadium after picking up an injury.
OPINION
The only surprise behind this report is that West Ham would be willing to let Sanchez leave the club given the lack of depth they have in the middle of the park this season. That would suggest they are lining up a move for another midfielder in the January market. If you base it on his individual performances for the Hammers during his stay in East London, there is no question that he wouldn’t be missed massively. Despite his vast domestic and international experience throughout his career, Sanchez has never once really impressed at the London Stadium, and it appears that Pellegrini’s patience has eventually run out. The big question that remains is whether there is any team willing to part ways with £3.5million to try and secure his services, especially given the fact that he has played little football during his time in the Premier League at the Hammers.
