The Everton scout who took Nathan Holland to the club has hailed the West Ham youngster, describing him as a “diamond”.
The 21-year-old is still yet to make his Premier League debut for the Irons, but Martin Waldron, who used to work for the Toffees. has suggested that he has the attitude needed to be a success.
Speaking to the Athletic, he said: “I’m delighted for him and the progress he’s making at West Ham.
“He’s a diamond of a kid but also a joker.
“He’s got loads of character and he’s just dedicated to football.”
OPINION
Holland must be wondering what else he has to do to force his way into Manuel Pellegrini’s plans this season. The winger has been in electric form for the U23s, scoring and assisting plenty so far this season, and yet he still doesn’t appear to be able to get a look in, despite the Hammers struggling in front of goal in recent weeks. And it’s not that people aren’t noticing either. As per Forever West Ham, supporters are calling for his inclusion in the first team with increasing regularity, while The Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas has also called for him to get the nod. At this stage, he needs to be playing senior football, whether that be in east London or elsewhere on loan. If things haven’t changed come January, he has to push for a move, plain and simple.
