Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that West Ham United duo Winston Reid and Jack Wilshere will return to training after the Chelsea clash.
The Hammers’ boss confirmed that both will miss the visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon alongside Manuel Lanzini and Lukasz Fabianski.
Pellegrini shared that Wilshere still has a problem with his pelvis and that Reid will return to full training next week after a number of outings for the under-23s in the recent weeks.
“Jack Wilshere continues with some problems in his pelvis, hope next week he will start working,” he said, as quoted by Football.London.
“Winston Reid back next week to training.”
Wilshere has only managed a couple of starts in the Premier League this season, with an extra four coming off the bench.
Any slight update on injuries is most likely the only positive surrounding West Ham at this moment in time. All Hammers’ fans will be happy that they could have a couple of fresh options to call upon given how poor they have been in recent months. Pellegrini will be tempted to throw both Reid and Wilshere back into the action after the Chelsea game, with a midweek clash immediately after against Wolves. The Hammers’ defence has been poor to say the least, conceding three or more goals in their last three games, and his experience and leadership could be vital when he returns. The Irons have also been lacking creativity in the middle of the park, with Declan Rice and Mark Noble concentrating on defensive duties, it leaves Robert Snodgrass alone to try and create chances for the likes of Sebastien Haller. Should West Ham lose once again when they travel to Chelsea on Saturday, Pellegrini will need to ring the changes to try and switch things around.
