Pellegrini given two games to save job

|

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has been given two games to save his job in east London, according to the Daily Mail

The Hammers are now winless in seventh in the Premier League, and like just one place and three points above the bottom three.

The report suggests that the Chilean will be given Saturday’s clash against Chelsea and next Wednesday’s meeting with Wolves to prove he is the right man for the job, and goes on to state that David Moyes, Sean Dyche, and Eddie Howe are all being considered as potential replacements.

OPINION

This really does not bode well for Pellegrini. The fact that he has just two games to save his job shows that he is hanging by a thread as it is, but for those two games to be against Chelsea and Wolves, two sides in the upper echelons of the Premier League table, shows just how much a task he is facing. At the end of the day, none of his players have really stepped up to the plate over the past few weeks, and it remains to be seen whether or not Pellegrini has it in his locker to galvanise a dressing room that looks so apathetic and low on confidence. The injury to Lukasz Fabianski certainly hasn’t helped things, and Roberto’s calamitous goalkeeping has cost the Irons points, but the problems facing West Ham are bigger than just one player, and surely too complex to sort out in the next two matches.
