Pellegrini could go if West Ham lose v Spurs

|

A West Ham defeat to Tottenham this weekend could “trigger a reaction quickly” from the club’s board with regards to Manuel Pellegrini’s future in east London, as per Claret & Hugh.

The Hammers are winless in six in the Premier League, and should that run be extended to seven, they then face tricky fixtures against Chelsea, Wolves, and Arsenal – a stretch that could convince those in charge to act on Pellegrini’s tenure.

The report reads: “Defeat by Spurs, with Chelsea away, Wolves away, and Arsenal at home facing them; deep depression and anxiety could trigger a reaction quickly.”

OPINION

This could spell bad news for Pellegrini. A massive reaction is needed from his side on Saturday, and if he can’t find one from somewhere, then this could be curtains for teh Chilean. At the end of the day, the Hammers are in a tailspin, and based on what we’ve seen recently, they don’t have what it takes to turn it around in any of their next four matches. That would take their winless streak to 10. That’s not just relegation form, it’s rooted to the bottom of the table, cut adrift by March form. For a side as well-equipped as they are, with the amount of money they have spent in recent transfer windows, that is quite simply unacceptable, and the something has to give. Bringing in a new manager would be a massive gamble, but sometimes you have to make bold moves to reap great rewards. The only that is certain at the moment is that these are very nervy times in east London.
