Hammers willing to listen to Sanchez offers

West Ham are willing to listen to offers for midfielder Carlos Sanchez in January, according to Claret & Hugh.

The £50,000-a-week Colombian international [Spotrac] has struggled to make an impact in east London since arriving in the capital last summer, and it is understood that the Hammers will look to offload him this winter for a small fee as he approaches the end of his deal.

According to the report, the 33-year-old is unlikely to fetch a fee above £500,000.

Getting rid of Sanchez seems like a smart move. The South American has barely played since he signed for West Ham, and when he has, he has done little to impress. Factor in the £50,000-a-week he is taking home, and it would surely be a prudent move to get him off the books. He has yet to complete a single tackle, interception, clearance, successful dribble, key pass, or shot on goal over the course of three substitute appearances for the Hammers so far this season, as per Whoscored, and as a result, it makes sense that the club should look to move him on while they can still get some kind of repayment for him. Few signings of Pellegrini’s tenure have been as ineffective as the Colombian, and while his departure would be seen as an admission of his failure by many, it would also be the most sensible thing to do at this stage.
