West Ham United have made an offer for Dinamo Zagreb playmaker Amer Gojak, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Spanish outlet claims that the Hammers have come in with an official approach for the 22-year-old in the past, as have their Premier League rivals Southampton.
German outfits Schalke and Bayer Leverkusen have also been sniffing about the Bosnia & Herzegovina international, and the Croatian side are said to be expecting a big auction for him to take place next summer.
The youngster has been a regular for Zagreb this season, including in the Champions League, where he scored twice during the qualification period.
OPINION
Do West Ham really need another midfield playmaker? They just bought one for big money this summer. Just because Pablo Fornals hasn’t quite started like a house on fire doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy another one a year later. Besides Fornals there’s also Manuel Lanzini, Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Michail Antonio, Jack Wilshere, Robert Snodgrass, Nathan Holland and Grady Diangana excelling out on loan who can play in the attacking midfield positions. With that said, does Manuel Pellegrini really need to move for another? Perhaps the Chilean bid for Gojak before deciding to go for Fornals, but there’s certainly no need for the Hammers to enter into this expected auction next summer. Gojak seems like a decent player. He’s scored once in the league and twice in Champions League qualification [Source: Transfermarkt], so he’s got serious potential. However, he’s just not somebody who the Irons need right now.
