Manuel Pellegrini has heaped praise on West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass after their 1-1 draw against Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Hammers’ boss was very impressed with his changes from the Everton defeat and admitted that Pablo Zabaleta and Fabian Balbuena defended valiantly throughout the contest at the London Stadium.

Snodgrass opened the scoring on Saturday afternoon, and Pellegrini shared that he believes the Scotsman adds more of a bite to his side when he starts games.

“Robert scored the goal and he is a player who gives a bit of bite to our team,” he told the club’s official website.

The 32-year-old started his first game for the Hammers since the second day of the season, where the Hammers also drew 1-1 away at Brighton.

OPINION

Something definitely needed to change on Saturday after a month of torment in East London. West Ham have been embarrassing and simply failed to do the basics right in the games against both Everton and Crystal Palace. The least Pellegrini can ask for is the maximum effort, and Snodgrass was everywhere in the middle of the park at West Ham. The recently retired Scottish international was at the heart of everything and took every set piece as well as whipping in dangerous deliveries with ease at certain points. His goal was the icing on the cake, and he deserves every drop of recognition, and the chance to continue his form at the beginning of the next Premier League game. Snodgrass had two shots on goal as well as completing two key passes on Saturday according to WhoScored, and if he can continue that form moving forward, he could be the difference for the Hammers in the Premier League.
