Fabianski flies high in Sky rankings

When Lukasz Fabianski signed for West Ham from Swansea City at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, few could have predicted just how effective he would go on to be for the Hammers.

The veteran Pole was so good in his debut campaign in east London that he was awarded the Hammer of the Year award by the club, and he has started this term in much the same fashion.

Three clean sheets in his last three Premier League matches have ensured that he is still riding a wave of popularity at the London Stadium.

And it would appear that his notoriety is stretching beyond the confines of his own fanbase.

Fabianski currently ranks 11th in Sky Sports’ Premier League power rankings, putting ahead of the likes of Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane, and Virgil Van Dijk in terms of how highly he is rated at the present moment in time.

Perhaps even more telling is the fact the he is the highest-ranked keeper in the division, with the next highest being Bournemouth’s Aaron Ramsdale down in 30th.

But perhaps Fabianski’s success shouldn’t be such a surprise.

So far this term he has averaged 3.3 saves per game in the Premier League, as well as a Whoscored rating of 6.93.

As a point of reference, Manchester City’s Ederson has a Whoscored rating of 6.85.

Quite simply, Fabianski is playing out of his skin at the moment, and is genuinely one of the best stoppers in England right now.

The only regret will be that he didn’t sign sooner.
