West Ham United are closely tracking the progress of Tottenham winger Jack Clarke, according to the Express.
The newspaper claim on their website that Tottenham are set to recall the 18-year-old from his loan spell at Leeds United, and send him out once again in January.
The Express report that the Hammers are joined by Everton and Crystal Palace in showing an interest in the England youth international with Spurs unhappy at the amount of playing time he is receiving at Elland Road.
Clarke has only managed to make two appearances under Marcelo Bielsa this season and was substituted at half-time in the recent Carabao Cup second round defeat to Stoke City.
OPINION
Given the fact that the Express report that the Hammers and Crystal Palace were interested in the skilful winger in the summer, it is no surprise that they are sniffing around the 18-year-old once again. Clarke has been poor this season, and Manuel Pellegrini must be careful with his next move if the chance arises in January to sign the 18-year-old. Under Bielsa, Clarke has failed to even make the bench for the majority of the Championship games Leeds have had this season, and pushing for a spot in the Premier League may be too much for him right now. Clarke burst onto the scene at Elland Road, but there is a reason the Whites let him go, with the suggested £10million fee too good to turn to down for a player with little experience. Clarke made 24 appearances last season, with only four of those being starts, and his best attribute was his dribbling, completing just 1.1 per game according to WhoScored – another stat that shows he is not ready for the Premier League just yet. The Hammers have plenty of options in the final third, and if Clarke is struggling for game time in the Championship, he is certainly not the answer in the top-flight.
