West Ham fans praise Lanzini v Watford

For much of their 3-1 win over Watford on Saturday afternoon, there wasn’t an awful lot for West Ham fans to shout about. They took the lead early thanks to a Mark Noble penalty, and they had new man Sebastien Haller to thank for their lead being restored just after the hour mark, but honestly, in between those two goals, the Hammers weren’t at their best. One man who didn’t let his standards drop, however, was Manuel Lanzini. The little Argentine was everywhere in behind Haller, buzzing about and generally making a nuisance of himself. It was he who won the penalty that gave the Hammers the lead early on, and he who looked like the Hammers’ most likely source of danger throughout. Already this season, after two disappointing matches prior to Saturday, there is a pattern emerging in that respect. Lanzini set up Javier Hernandez’s goal against Brighton last week, and he had averaged four successful dribbles and two key passes per match prior to the vital win over the Hornets, as per Whoscored. Now that the Hammers are up and running with their first win of the campaign you would hope that Lanzini can keep kicking on and pulling the strings, and if he does, who knows what he can achieve this season.
