Chivas boss wants Hernandez

West Ham United forward Javier Hernandez has enjoyed a contrasting start to the season, to say the least.

An opening couple of months full of transfer speculation and numerous injury setbacks, the Mexican international did score in his only start in the Premier League this season.

When Sebastien Haller was ruled out of the game against Brighton on the second weekend, Hernandez stepped up to the plate and scored the opening goal to secure a 1-1 draw.

The 31-year-old forward has been reported by Football Insider to have attracted interest from DC United, who are interested in replacing the outgoing Wayne Rooney in January.

On top of that, club source, Claret and Hugh also reported that Los Angeles FC are prepared to offer £5million for Hernandez – who is all but set to leave the London Stadium in the winter market.

With a move to America expected, it comes as a surprise to see Chivas’ manager, Tomas Boy, admitting as quoted by Mexico AS, that he would love to sign Hernandez.

“It would be great,” he said.

“Sure (interested in having him). It fits, of course, good players fit in my team and ‘Chícharo’ is a fabulous scorer.”

A January exit could be nearing for Hernandez, with the American interest being joined by the apparent admiration from Boy at Chivas.

The problem behind any deal is whether or not Manuel Pellegrini would be open to selling one of his forwards – with Haller and Albian Ajeti also at the club.

Hernandez himself is most likely second-choice behind Haller at the Hammers and is not suited to the lone striker role currently being employed by Pellegrini.

That was highlighted in the game against Brighton, where although he scored – the Mexican failed to complete a single dribble or even register a single key pass for his teammates according to WhoScored.

With interest from America and Mexico coming in for the 31-year-old, an exit could surely be nearing for Hernandez at West Ham.
