Manuel Lanzini has claimed that he is intent on staying at West Ham.
The Argentine’s current £70,000-a-week contract expires at the end of the season, as per Spotrac, but he has wasted little time in reassuring fans last to where he sees his future.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, he said: “Yes, we are talking with the club about staying and, of course, I want to stay.
“It is like my home.
“It is my fifth season now, I love the fans, the fans love me and the club is amazing.”
OPINION
This is brilliant news for the Hammers if it is true. Lanzini has no reason to lie about his future at the club, and to come out and speak in such black and white terms would suggest that he means what he is saying. Last year was a tough one for the Argentine. After picking up an injury in the build up to the World Cup, he spent a large part of the season sidelined, and never really got up to full speed. This year, however, he is beginning to look like his old self again. As per Whoscored, he has averaged four successful dribbles, two key passes, and a shot on goal per game in the Premier League this season, as well as registering an assist in the 1-1 draw v Brighton. If he can keep up that kind of form then he can have a wonderful campaign, but the sooner the Hammers tie him down to a new deal to ward off potential suitors, the better. At least Lanzini also sounds keen.
