Javier Hernandez is set to leave West Ham United in January for a move to the MLS, according to Claret and Hugh.

The club source claim that Los Angeles FC are the most likely destination for the 108-cap Mexican international, who will be allowed to leave the Hammers after they brought in Albian Ajeti on deadline day.

Claret and Hugh report that the American side are willing to offer £5million for Hernandez, who is said to be ready to jump at the chance to leave the London Stadium.

The 31-year-old is currently the highest earner at the club, with a weekly-income of £140,000 set to be cut of the wage bill should he complete a move [Spotrac].

OPINION

With Hernandez reportedly ready to jump at the chance, West Ham must be counting down the days until they can get rid of the Mexican. The former Manchester United man has not done enough to justify the club making him their highest earner since he arrived, especially now he is second choice behind Sebastien Haller. With a club already waiting to make an offer and tempt Hernandez, it seems likely that a deal should be concluded early in January – a move that would see Manuel Pellegrini put faith in young forward Ajeti to make an impact. The 31-year-old was ineffective for the majority of the game against Brighton despite scoring, averaging 1.5 shots on goal but failing to complete a single dribble or key pass to bring his teammates into to action [WhoScored]. Pellegrini will be counting down the days already, with getting rid of Hernandez surely giving him the opportunity to bring in a younger forward who is more hungry for the team.
