West Ham United have had some success in discussions with Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez, according to ExWHUemployee.
The reliable club source claimed that the Hammers entered into talks with the Uruguayan international in an attempt to turn his head, with a final decision yet to be made on his future.
ExWHUemployee reported on their personal Twitter account that the Hammers are in direct contact with the player’s representatives.
Gomez’ agent Jonathan Barnett is reported to hold a good relationship with the Sullivan’s and holds the key in persuading the Uruguayan forward to move to the London Stadium.
The latest reports from Super Deporte claim that the 22-year-old was set for a medical at the Hammers this weekend.
OPINION
The longer this transfer saga continues, the more likely it becomes that West Ham are set to win the race for the Uruguayan international’s signature. With Valencia already having a reported bid accepted during the week, the La Liga club are yet to finalise any deal for the 22-year-old, who is still willing to enter discussions with the Premier League side. Surely patience is wearing thin for the Spanish side who will have expected a deal to be completed by now. Gomez’ agent, Barnett surely holds the key to any move to the Hammers. Barnett is reported to be suddenly demanding more commission from Valencia, which could be seen as a tactic to put them off the idea of signing Gomez and leave the door wide open for Manuel Pellegrini to secure his man. The Hammers will not back down from this one, with the club being suggested to want to sign two forwards this summer to soften the blow of potentially losing Marko Arnautovic.
