Nasri in advanced talks with Anderlecht

Samir Nasri is in advanced talks to join Belgian side Anderlecht, according to HLN journalist Kristof Terreur

The Frenchman left West Ham earlier this week, but is understood to already be on the verge of finding a new club.

Anderlecht are managed by Nasri’s former Manchester City teammate Vincent Kompany, with the defender keen to offer the 32-year-old a new home after he failed secure an extension to the six month contract he signed with the Hammers in January.

This would be a smart move for Nasri, but honestly, West Ham will just be grateful to have him off the books. The Frenchman was a low risk signing to be fair, coming in on a free and with a wealth of experience, but it never really looked like working out for him, and it made sense when the Hammers decided against extending his stay with them. The 32-year-old managed just 246 minutes for the Irons, less than three full matches, and he managed just 0.4 dribbles and 1.2 key passes per game [Whoscored], a pretty poor return for a creative midfielder. Manuel Pellegrini should be applauded for thinking outside the box when he brought him, but sometimes things just don’t work out how you want them to. When that happens, the best thing that can be done is to shake hands and move on. West Ham have done well to get rid of Nasri.
