West Ham United youngsters Nathan Holland and Conor Coventry are both considered likely to make the team’s pre season trip to Switzerland, according to Football London.
The outlet claims that the Hammers squad will soon be heading to the Alps for a pre season training camp, having returned to training at Rush Green on Monday.
Two young men who could well make the plane are Holland and Coventry. The former has long been considered a future first team star, with only injuries preventing him from making the step up last season.
Coventry is thought to be highly likely to travel to Switzerland and could stay with the first team squad for their trek to China for the Premier League Asia Trophy.
OPINION
These are two players who, along with Xande Silva and Josh Cullen, are expected to be given the opportunity to make the step up for West Ham over the course of this pre season. That doesn’t mean that they’re going to make an impact in the first team next season, Cullen, for example, could head out on loan again. However, it gives them the chance to get themselves into manager Manuel Pellegrini’s thinking moving forward. That will be the goal for any young player at the London Stadium, and Holland and Coventry are no different. Pellegrini knows about them already, of course, they weren’t out on loan somewhere last season, which is probably why they are considered the most likely to make the Switzerland trip. Central midfield is a bit thin for the Hammers at the moment, so Coventry has a chance to force his way in. It’s a bit more jam-packed on the wings, though, so Holland may have to be patient.
