Celta Vigo not willing to negotiate with West Ham

|

Celta Vigo do not intend to negotiate with West Ham over a potential move for striker Maxi Gomez, according to Faro De Vigo.

The Spanish newspaper claim on their website that the Hammers will need to pay the £43.5million release clause for the Uruguayan after the La Liga club agreed a deal with Valencia for the 22-year-old on Thursday.

Faro De Vigo report that West Ham are in a position to offer a better deal to Gomez, who alongside his representatives are convinced a move to London would offer them better conditions.

West Ham officials reportedly flew to Vigo to try and hijack any potential Valencia move this summer but will be told they must meet the release clause in order to do so.

OPINION

West Ham seem more determined than ever to try and force a deal through for Gomez. Perhaps the imminent exit of Marko Arnautovic for a reported £22.5million has put the Hammers in a position to be able to cough up the amount need to lure the Uruguayan to London. With Vigo reportedly happy with the deal proposed by Valencia, it could become even harder to complete a move, with their unwillingness to negotiate the first hurdle which needs stepping over, and quick. Despite their reported eagerness to complete a deal for Gomez, the club have also been linked with a move for Torino forward Andrea Belotti – with a fee of £35.6million being suggested. This would mean that the club are edging closer to be able to afford Gomez, with the 22-year-old in a constant tug-of-war. With Gomez reportedly knowing that a move to London would bring in a much better deal than to stay Spain may turn the balance back in Pellegrini’s favour, who seems unwilling to just sit back and let Valencia complete a deal.
