West Ham United have offered £10million and outcasts Jordan Hugill and Sam Byram for West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper claims that Manuel Pellegrini’s side made a cash + two players bid for the 6ft 1in Venezuelan international [Source: Transfermarkt].

However, the Baggies rejected the team’s offer, with West Ham keen to capitalise on the uncertainty at Newcastle United, where Rondon spent the season on loan.

Pellegrini is searching for a replacement for Andy Carroll, who will leave on a free this summer, but it appears he will have to give up more to snare Rondon.

Well, this has come out of the blue, hasn’t it? There was lots of talk about West Ham being in for Rondon earlier this summer, but it all seemed to have gone a bit quiet in recent weeks. However, it seems the Hammers were simply waiting for the right moment to make their move for the Venezuelan. £10million and two players isn’t a bad offer for someone like Rondon, in all honesty, but the problem likely lies with who the two players are that the club offered. Byram is an injury ravaged right back who only made a handful of appearances while on loan with Nottingham Forest this season. Then there’s Hugill, who decidedly failed to make a big impact during a temporary stay with Middlesbrough last time out. West Brom clearly don’t fancy either of those West Ham outcasts. However, if Pellegrini were to offer a bit more money or some better players, then perhaps the Baggies could be tempted to deal.
