West Ham United co chairman David Gold has sent a gushing message to outgoing Hammers coach Jack Collison.
The former West Ham midfielder has been working for the club as an academy coach since retiring from playing, but will soon be leaving to take up a role with Major League Soccer side Atlanta United.
Gold has given him a fine send-off: “JACK COLLISON is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in football it’s been a pleasure knowing you Jack,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.
“good luck in your future endeavours dg.”

OPINION
You’ve always got the impression that Collison is a thoroughly decent guy and a good player on his day, although his career was unfortunately blighted by injuries. Since he’s retired, though, he’s taken up a role as a coach with West Ham and has, by all accounts, excelled. So much so that he’s now been offered the chance to continue his coaching career with one of the MLS’s powerhouses in Atlanta United. They were victorious in the MLS Cup not long ago, although they haven’t fared as well this time round. Still, it’s a tremendous opportunity for him and so he’s right to grasp it with both hands. Clearly Gold doesn’t harbour any ill will towards him. On the contrary he clearly rates him extremely highly and is wishing him the best of luck for his coaching career moving forward. Wouldn’t it be something if he were to return to the Hammers as manager in the future? That would be fantastic for everyone connected to the club.
