Premier League runners ups Liverpool are considering making a summer move for West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian, according to Goal.

The outlet claims that the Spaniard, who has made exactly 150 appearances for the Hammers, is one of the names being considered at Anfield to replace back up shot-stopper Simon Mignolet, who is expected to leave in search of first team football this summer.

The 32-year-old’s name has been mentioned at the Reds’ base of Melwood, although no approach has yet been made for him.

Adrian is out of contract at the London Stadium and is also said to be interesting top flight sides Crystal Palace and Bournemouth among others.

OPINION

This is something that would make sense for all parties, really. Adrian is set to leave West Ham anyway and it’s time that he started looking for his next club. If he can secure a move to a team as huge as Liverpool then he would likely be over the moon with that. The only problem would be the fact that he would be signing up for another spell as a back up ‘keeper. He served the role behind Lukasz Fabianski this season and it’s unknown whether he’s willing to do the same for the next few years of his career. However, if he is, then he couldn’t do better than a switch to Anfield. This isn’t really something that is going to affect the Hammers, as they are seemingly ready to get rid of the Spaniard anyway. However, Adrian is much-loved at the London Stadium and the club’s supporters would likely be happy for him to get a big move to a team like the Reds.
