Premier League side Everton are considering making a summer move for West Ham United left back Aaron Cresswell, according to Football Insider.

The outlet claims that the north west outfit are considering bringing in the 29-year-old as a potential replacement for veteran Leighton Baines, who is out of contract at the end of June.

The Hammers may be tempted to cash in on the England international as a result of Arthur Masukau’s terrific form down the stretch this season.

However, they will likely want double the £4million they spent to bring Cresswell to the London Stadium from Ipswich Town.

OPINION

This makes a lot of sense for all parties, really. Cresswell was in a constant battle with Masuaku for the starting left back spot at West Ham all season, however, the DR Congo international had clearly emerged victorious from that duel by the end of the campaign. So it wouldn’t be a surprise if Manuel Pellegrini let the Englishman move on this summer, and Everton have every right to be looking at him as a realistic target. Baines looks like he’ll finally be leaving Goodison Park, so Marco Silva will need to find someone to come in and compete with Lucas Digne. However, given how well the Frenchman has done this campaign it’s likely that Cresswell would only be warming the bench for him. Still, if he decides that now is the time to move on then so be it. He’s been a decent servant to the Hammers but if he does leaves this summer then there won’t be too many fans in east London upset by it.
