West Ham United are considering a summer move for Basaksehir midfielder Irfan Kahveci, according to Sport Witness.

The outlet claims that the Hammers are exploring the possibility of bringing the 23-year-old to the Premier League and that the player is likely to leave his club this summer.

The Turkey international has been a regular performer as Basaksehir have stormed their way to a surprise lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig.

OPINION

This is a bit of an interesting one. Kahveci isn’t a big name that many West Ham fans will be familiar with, but he plays in a position of need for them and is someone who has been in excellent form for much of the season as his side have taken everyone by surprise with their antics in Turkey. Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Besiktas have traditionally been the big dogs of Turkish football, but Basaksehir have blown them all away this term and Kahveci has been a big part of that. Manuel Pellegrini will undoubtedly be looking to bring in some central midfield help this summer. Mark Noble, Declan Rice (if he stays) and Jack Wilshere will likely still be in place next season, but aside from that there is uncertainty in the middle of the park for West Ham. Carlos Sanchez, Edimilson Fernandes and Pedro Obiang face uncertain futures, and so Pellegrini could do with signing another central midfielder. Perhaps Kahveci could be just the man.
