West Ham must go back in for Diawara

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini no doubt wants to strengthen this summer, and it is no secret that finding new recruits for the midfield is high up on his list.

Several injuries have made the midfield the worst striken area this season, with the likes of Carlos Sanchez, Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmolenko having all spent the majority of this campaign on the sidelines.

That means a central midfielder is definitely needed at the club this summer. Declan Rice has been impressive, however, Mark Noble cannot go on forever. Pedro Obiang – well it speaks for itself that he is not really a wanted man at the moment.

Going in for Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara would be a very wise move by Pellegrini. According to Tutto Mercato Web in January, the Hammers were keen on him to replace the declining Obiang.

That does make perfect sense, especially after the season Obiang has had. His performances do not leave much to the imagination, and to be honest, he does not really offer much to the team that they do not already have.

Diawara, on the other hand, has a lot to offer at the age of 21-years-old. He is a player who could easily make the switch to the Premier League – the youngster is considered as an up and coming talent at Napoli, and he is already a fully-fledged international for Guinea alongside Liverpool’s Naby Keita.

At his age, Diawara is the perfect long-term option for the Irons, just like Rice is. Noble probably only has a few seasons left of playing, and it remains to be seen just what role Wilshere will play under Pellegrini.

The manager would secure a masterstroke by reigniting West Ham’s hunt for the young ace, as he is clearly what they need this summer.
