West Ham would be keen on signing goalkeeper Jordan Pickford if Everton decide to sell him for £50million this summer, according to The Sun.

The national newspaper claim that the Toffees are considering selling the 25-year-old due to his performances this season and due to their need to sell players in order to sign their summer targets.

The Sun report that the sale of Pickford would add to Everton’s transfer kitty and if they are to part with him then the Hammers as well as Tottenham would be interested in recruiting his services.

OPINION

This has to be a late April Fools joke surely? While the Hammers could do with another goalkeeper at the club, Adrian’s current contract is still due to end in the summer, would they really pursue such an expensive goalkeeper? The Toffees are only weighing up whether to sell Pickford, who still is their No.1 shot-stopper, and if they opt to get rid, then they’re are not going to budge much on their £50million valuation of the shot-stopper. The Hammers spent big last summer and it’s hard to see them doing so again in the next window as a result. While Manuel Pellegrini may be able to raise funds from selling players he deems deadwood, it’s doubtful he could raise the £50million needed to be a serious contender in the race for Pickford. Also Lukasz Fabianski has arguably been Hammers of the Year this season, so the London club should only be in the market for a new No.2. So it’s hardly unlikely the Hammers would blow their budget on a player likely to be rooted to the bench.
