Manchester United supporter Mark Goldbridge took a dig at West Ham midfielder Declan Rice for the 20-year-old’s performance in the 2-0 loss to Chelsea on Monday.

Goldbridge, who hosts The United Stand  which has 413,623 YouTube subscribers, claimed he didn’t understand why his fellow Man United fans were talking up Rice as Eden Hazard made the Hammers player look like the invisible man when scoring his opening goal.

The internet personality claimed that Rice was nowhere near ready to play for a top-six side in the Premier League based on his display on Monday.

“United fans talking up Declan Rice,” tweeted Goldbridge, via his personal Twitter account.

“Eden Hazard made him look like the invisible man for that goal. Nowhere near ready for top 6 football.”

OPINION

Rice wasn’t at his best against Chelsea but it’s ridiculous to write him off for one lacklustre display.  The 20-year-old is a fan favourite at the London Stadium not just because he has emerged from the club’s academy but because he has proven to be one of Manuel Pellegrini’s most consistent performers. The Hammers’ form this season has been a rollercoaster ride filled with incredible highs and low, so to be consistently good for the London club has been a huge ask. So for Goldbridge to effectively try and suggest that Manchester United wouldn’t benefit from having Rice based on one poor outing will no doubt have the blood of Hammers supporters boiling. The internet personality has often made a name for himself and gotten attention for his ridiculous and over-the-top opinions, but even he will no doubt feel embarrassed by his Rice verdict sooner rather than later. As it’s more than likely that the midfielder’s disappointing display against the Blues was a rare blip.
