Adrian Durham tore into West Ham duo Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere as he claimed they were draining money out of the club.

The broadcaster ridiculed the Hammers’ decision to sign both players as he claimed that the high-profile pair had both been disasters for the club.

Durham then went onto to claim that due to Carroll and Wilshere draining money out of the football club, it was effecting the first-team.

“They’ve made the decision to sign Carroll, it’s been a disaster,” said Durham on talkSPORT (Tuesday April 9th, 16:14)

“They’ve made the decision to sign Wilshere, it’s been a disaster for them.

“Two players on their books who are draining money out the football club and that’s effecting the first-team.”

OPINION

Moaning about the signing of Carroll seems a bit redundant at this point. The Hammers signed the forward in 2013 from Liverpool so it seems like bringing up ancient history. While Carroll does look destined to exit the London Stadium in the summer, it still seems harsh to label his whole time at the club a disaster. There have been some positive moments in the forward’s career at the Hammers, it’s just the fact his whole time at the club has been a little overshadowed by his injury record. As for Wilshere, it’s way too soon to label his signing a disaster. While it’s true the midfielder has hardly featured for Manuel Pellegrini’s side since joining from Arsenal in the summer due to injury problems, who knows, he could rebound in spectacular fashion and have a fantastic 2019/20 campaign at the club. Wilshere clearly has the talent to be a game changing player for the Hammers and while his debut season hasn’t gone to plan, maybe Durham should hold off jumping the gun.
