West Ham are among a number of Premier League sides chasing the capture of Cardiff City loanee Victor Camarasa with an exit from both his loan and parent club lined up this summer, according to Marca.

The reputable Spanish publication claim on their website that with the Bluebirds’ relegation battle looking likely to end in disappointment, the 24-year-old midfielder, who has scored five times this season is unlikely to return to the Welsh capital this summer, while his future at Real Betis is equally as bleak.

It is stated that he has no place in the La Liga side’s squad next season and that he will be up for a cut price fee of £12.9million (€15million) despite having a £20.6million (€24million) release clause, leaving the likes of West Ham, Leicester City, Everton and Tottenham hunting his signature.

Opinion

Camarasa has been one of Cardiff’s shining lights in what has been a difficult season for the Premier League side, whose future among the top flight looks very uncertain. His five goals and three assists from the middle of the park have seemingly caught the eye of the Hammers and considering their problems with midfielders this season, his capture could be something of a coup. There has been a lack of creativity coming from those already at the London Stadium, with Declan Rice and Mark Noble more suited to doing the dirty work than trying to make things happen, which is likely why the Real Betis man is on their radar. There looks to be plenty of competition building for his capture and so if the Hammers do want to have him next season they might have to act quickly or risk losing out. If his goal against Chelsea was anything to go by, he could become a real hero in east London.
