West Ham have joined the race to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay, according to Calciomercato.com

The Italian news site have claimed that the Hammers and Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the hunt for Demirbay’s signature, however his current contract with the Bundesliga club is not due to expire until 2022.

The 25-year-old has managed four goals and nine assists so far across all competitions this season in 29 appearances.

Demirbay has also thought to have caught Arsenal’s eye after being involved in 13 goals for his side this season as they were previously linked to the player by Blid.

Opinion:

Bringing Demirbay to West Ham would be a good move, as he’s already got a decent reputation in the Bundesliga. Also the German international isn’t likely to break that bank and surely is a player well within the Hammers’ price range.. As a versatile number ten, Demirbay could potentially be a good replacement for Marco Arnautovic, should he end up leaving in the summer. Also, Demirbay has had a strange route to the top, after having various stints with a number of lower league clubs in Germany, before emerging as a top talent for Hoffenheim in the last few years. The 25-year old also has European experience, after playing in the Champions League, and the Europa League with Hoffenheim over the last few seasons. Either way, at a seriously affordable price, bringing Demirbay to West Ham could potentially be a brilliant move, for both the player and the club respectively.
