OPINION
It’s probably not the kind of announcement that West Ham fans were hoping for in truth. With the season coming to an end, there will have been faint hopes of snapping up an early deal, or perhaps confirming the extension of current contract for a fan favourite, but instead, the Hammers have announced that they will be bringing in a new carpet. The club confirmed on Twitter on Saturday that they will be unveiling a new claret pitch surround for their clash with Leicester City, and it’s fair to say that fans saw the funny side of the news. To be fair to the board, this is a decent move. It will go some way to making the London Stadium feel more like home, but honestly, the lub probably didn’t need to go to the lengths they did to hop hit up beforehand. Perhaps an understated announcement or even a surprise unveiling would have been better, but this way, the Irons have fairly opened themselves up to a whole load of mockery. At least their own fans have landed the first blow though, and that should at least take some of the sting out of the ribbing they will surely receive.

Covering up the running track with a carpet that is a similar colour to the running track. I love this club.

I was deliberating about renewing my season ticket but this news has made my mind up. See ya next season.
