Nasri ruled out v Man United

|

West Ham United attacker Samir Nasri has been ruled out of the clash against Manchester United this Saturday, it has been confirmed.

The 31-year-old attacking midfielder has been ruled out of the weekend’s clash due to sustaining a calf injury after being an unused substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Monday.

Manuel Pellegrini also confirmed that Carlos Sanchez and Andriy Yarmolenko could be back in a few weeks to work with the rest of the squad.

“Long injuries are still out, Yarmolenko & Sanchez could be back in a couple of weeks to work with the squad. Carroll has had surgery, Nasri has a calf injury. All the other players are OK,” Pellegrini said in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by Football London.

OPINION

Samir Nasri has been on the fringes of the first team for a while, with his last absence coming against Chelsea on Monday night after being named on the bench. That being said, he could have been useful in this clash against Manchester United, as he has no doubt faced them many times as Manchester City player. The likes of Manuel Lanzini have not been on form recently, and he could have potentially started in the place of the Argentine on Saturday. The team will now have to cope without his creative influence, as they will no doubt struggle against a United team who have been in form in the last few months. Fingers crossed that his calf injury is not too serious, as the last thing Pellegrini needs is for another one of his midfielders to be added to the injury list. Sanchez and Yarmolenko coming back to work with the team is encouraging though.
