Former England international Alan Shearer has included three West Ham United players in his Premier League Team of the Week.

The news was revealed on the Premier League’s official Twitter account, with Hammers Issa Diop, Ryan Fredericks and Mark Noble all represented in Shearer’s eleven.

The three players were key elements of their team’s surprise 1-0 victory over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, with Diop and Noble particularly impressing.

The West Ham trio were joined in Shearer’s line up by the likes of Leicester City duo Youri Tielemans and Jamie Vardy and Liverpool double act Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah.

OPINION

Shearer is right to be impressed with these three Hammers stars because they were all excellent against Tottenham on Saturday. Diop is someone who has experienced an alarming loss of form in recent months since centre back partner Fabian Balbuena went down injured around the turn of the year. However, he rebounded tremendously once he was back alongside the Paraguayan at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. There never looked a point where the West Ham centre halves looked particularly troubled by Spurs’s coterie of attacking stars. As for Fredericks, he endured a tough first half hour against Mauricio Pochettino’s side. However, once he found his groove he was absolutely imperious on the right hand side of the defence. Then there’s Noble – Mr. West Ham – who produced a display that was in sharp contrast to his advancing years. He was everywhere on Saturday and Tottenham simply couldn’t cope with him in the middle of the park.
