West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian is likely to leave the club to return to his native Spain this summer, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers news source claims that the 32-year-old, who has amassed 150 appearances in East London, will head back to Spain, where he previously shone for Real Betis.

Football Insider reported on Tuesday that Adrian will leave the London Stadium when his contract expires in a few months time, with an experienced shot-stopper set to replace him at the club.

OPINION

This isn’t really a surprise. Adrian has appeared destined to leave the Hammers for some time now, having fallen way behind first choice ‘keeper Lukasz Fabianski in manager Manuel Pellegrini’s pecking order. The Poland international has been absolutely unbelievable since swapping Swansea City for West Ham and there doesn’t appear to be any way back into the first team reckoning for Adrian while Fabianski is at the club. The end of the season is the perfect time to part ways with the long-serving Hammer and a return to Spain would appear to be ideal for everyone involved. When we saw Adrian last season he was ousting Joe Hart and performing at a pretty decent level. He can still contribute positively to a lot of teams, it’s just that West Ham have one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League in Fabianski playing ahead of him. He will likely do well back in Spain, with Betis being a nice potential reunion.
