Manuel Pellegrini is no doubt plotting a fresh shake-up at West Ham United in the summer, and finding a goalkeeper should be high on his list of priorities.

Claret and Hugh have reported previously that second choice Hammers keeper Adrian is very likely to leave the London Stadium this summer, with a number of Spanish clubs circling if he does end up departing.

This why it makes complete sense to find a replacement, so they must step up their interest in Ajax stopper Andre Onana. According to Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf, West Ham are keen on signing the 22-year-old.

Onana is clearly a talented player if the report has linked Barcelona with a move for him. He is said to be worth £25.6 million, which shows that he has a lot of potential for someone so young, and West Ham must make sure that they are at the front of the queue for him.

Ajax’s football director Marc Overmars is said to have deemed the youngster as not for sale, so the Irons must attempt to twist their arm on this one. The Champions League side may be reluctant, but that should not stop them in their tracks.

Onana is not a keeper that is going to challenge Fabianksi any time soon, there is no doubt about that. Nevertheless, what he can offer is for Pellegrini to rest easy knowing he has a quality shot-stopper to call upon if absolutely neccessary. Finding a second choice keeper can often be more difficult than finding a first choice, as searching for someone who is willing to sit on the bench is very hard.

The 6ft 4in [Transfermarkt] giant is just the answer to Pellegrini’s problem. Adrian is likely to leave, and he is the perfect player to replace him.

The manager would hit the jackpot by signing Onana – as he clearly knows his stuff if he has made 42 appearances for Ajax this season.
