West Ham willing to sell Rice for £70m

|

West Ham United are willing to sell star player Declan Rice this summer, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football news site reports that if a club came in with an offer of £70 million in the next transfer window, they would be ready to cash in on one of their most prized assets.

The report adds that Manchester United have not made a £35 million bid for the recently capped England midfielder after news emerged that the Red Devils had made an offer.

The site also says that the Irons are not keen on the idea of selling Rice, but have accepted that every one of their players has a figure on their head.

It is understood that Man United, Manchester City and Tottenham are all interested in Rice.

OPINION

There is absolutely no doubt that the West Ham fans would be raging if the club went and sold one of their best players if a £70 million offer came in for his services. Yes, this is a very tempting sum of money and it is a figure that would allow them to reinvest heavily, but he is one player that they cannot afford to let go at the moment. He has not even reached the peak of his career yet, and to sell him before he reaches that stage would not be wise in the slightest. To see him at his best at a club like Manchester United is one thing that should not happen – so no matter what the offer, West Ham should do their utmost to keep him. That being said, perhaps they are asking for £70 million in order to ward off potential buyers. They know that many clubs would be put off by this asking price, but that being said, we are possibly talking about clubs from the Premier League top six here.
