If it wasn’t clear already that West Ham United need to part ways with disgruntled attacker Marko Arnautovic this summer, then his latest temper tantrum has surely done the job.

The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that the Austrian international is frustrated at having been frozen out by manager Manuel Pellegrini since demanding a move to China in January.

He has made just four substitute appearances since the winter transfer window slammed shut as the Hammers boss has asserted his authority.

That hasn’t gone down well with the former Stoke City man apparently, and that’s why the club needs to give him the boot in a few months time.

If he cannot see why he is being punished then it’s clear that he simply doesn’t have his head screwed on correctly. It was obvious that there would be some backlash to his actions and so the mature thing for him to do would be to take his punishment like a man and accept that he deserves it.

The first teamer’s actions in January were unprofessional and unpalatable, Pellegrini is well within his rights to select him as much or as little as he chooses.

Besides, it’s not as if Arnautovic has done anything in his substitute appearances to warrant a start. He has produced very little since the turn of the year and that is as much a reason for his lack of game time as anything else.

It’s the lack of perspective that is most baffling with Arnautovic. For him to have the nerve to be frustrated at a lack of game time when he essentially abandoned his team mid-season is quite galling.

It’s this misguided attitude that demonstrates exactly why the club must get rid of the mercurial Austrian this summer – he is more trouble than he’s worth.
