West Ham spent big in the summer and only really need to spend in the January market if the right player becomes available and based on a report by Calciomercato.it that is exactly what has happened.

The Italian news outlet claim that FC Empoli midfielder Miha Zajc wants to leave the Italian club in the current window and has the likes of Huddersfield Town as well as Newcastle United chasing his services.

Given that the Magpies or the Terriers are likely to act for the player given both of them needing to find a way to turn this season around, the Hammers could miss out on signing the talented playmaker if they don’t act in this window.

Manuel Pellegrini could do with a new No.10, especially with Manuel Lanzini still injured, and should pounce on the chance to sign Zajc not just because of his talent but due to his reported price being too cheap to ignore.

According to Calciomercato.it Emploi have set Zajc’s price and want a fee between five to six million euros (£4.8m to £5.3m) for him, which is very cheap considering the current transfer market and the 24-year-old’s abilities.

Zajc has shown in his 19 appearances this season, where he has been involved in five goals, that he is a sublime passer of the ball which allows him to create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates.

The 24-year-old, who has nine caps for Slovenia, is also a slick dribbler of the ball, a threat from direct free-kicks and is capable of unleashing powerful shots on goal.

Therefore this all means that the Hammers should pounce on signing the wantaway playmaker as not only does he have the skillset to aid their cause, given his reported price tag it would be rude not to attempt to snap him up.
