West Ham attacker Andy Carroll would like a move to the MLS and the Hammers are open to letting him depart the club, according to FootballFanCast.

The football outlet claim that Manuel Pellegrini’s side are willing to negotiate over the player’s potential exit with any interested party due to them preferring to receive a fee for his services rather than him leaving in the summer for free when his £90,000-a-week contract expires (Source: Spotrac).

FootballFanCast report that the Hammers are also aware of interest is fellow attacker Lucas Perez and it’s unlikely that he as well as Carroll will be allowed to leave in the same month.

OPINION

It seems that Perez and Carroll could both potentially be packing their bags soon, but that nothing is certain. FootballFanCast explain that Pellegrini rightfully doesn’t want to be left short of options so he doesn’t have to wave goodbye to Carroll or Perez if he is worried about the scenario. The football outlet explains that Pellegrini is keen to hold onto Perez and the only way that scenario changes is if Javier Hernandez returns from injury and gets amongst the goals quickly. However that scenario seems unlikely as the forward will no doubt take time to get back up to speed after his recent set-back so it’s hard to see him being able to produce the form that would see Perez exit before the window shuts. Yet that said based on this report Carroll is more likely to leave than Perez due to the fear regarding his contract, yet no clubs are linked. There’s no mention of there being any interested parties in the English 30-year-old, which suggest that the Hammers may be stuck with him until the summer.
