West Ham United defender Reece Oxford is set to hold talks over his future at the club in the next few days, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports on their website that the 20-year-old centre-back has not split with agent Colossal Sports Management, despite a report from Claret and Hugh saying he has parted company with his representatives.

The report adds that 6ft 3in [Transfermarkt] colossus will discuss his future with his agent, and the youngster has admitted that he will not join a club who he does not wish to sign for – even if West Ham are wanting to get rid of him in this transfer window.

OPINION

If Oxford had parted company with his agent, it would have been a major blow in terms of his future at West Ham. There is no doubt he is unhappy with his current situation at the club – after all, he is unlikely to make a first team appearance any time soon – so his lack of involvement should make him even more willing to leave the club. The fact that he still has his agent on board will make it a lot easier for him to negotiate an exit away from the London Stadium, so he will likely be feeling confident ahead of the talks about his future. Whether he decides that a move away from the Irons is best for him remains to be seen, but he must know that Manuel Pellegrini is unlikely to play him anytime soon. With the Hammers keen on the youngster to move on, now could not be a better time to make that happen.
