West Ham United first team players Aaron Cresswell and Samir Nasri are both doubts for Tuesday’s clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers news source claims that the left back and playmaker are both recovering from knocks and as such are regarded as question marks for the trip to Molineux.

Neither man made the squad for Saturday’s FA Cup humiliation at AFC Wimbledon, with Arthur Masuaku filling in for Cresswell and Robert Snodgrass and Grady Diangana taking on the creative burden in Nasri’s absence.

Claret & Hugh’s report states that talisman Marko Arnautovic is back in the squad, though, following intense recent speculation over his future.

OPINION

This isn’t good news at all for West Ham, who are already coping with multiple injuries throughout the squad. Nasri has been a bit up and down, as expected, since signing earlier this month, but there aren’t many Hammers players with his flair and creativity. Cresswell, on the other hand, has nailed down a first team spot in recent months with a number of impressive displays, and so his potential absence would be critical for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. Masuaku simply isn’t good enough defensively to be an adequate replacement for Cresswell, and his inclusion would undoubtedly make West Ham fans nervous. The thought of players like Diogo Jota and right wing back Matt Doherty going up against Masuaku is pretty scary from a Hammers point of view. Doherty, in particular, is phenomenal on the overlap and it’s likely that he would cause the DR Congo international fits. Let’s hope, then, that Cresswell and Nasri both pull through on Tuesday.
