Manuel Pellegrini is going to leave it as late of possible when deciding whether defender Aaron Cresswell can featured against Cardiff on Tuesday.

The Hammers boss confirmed that the 28-year-old left-back had suffered a hamstring injury and that he was will be assessed tomorrow regarding his availability for the clash with Neil Warnock’s side.

“About the injuries, we have the same players. Cresswell has a hamstring injury. We shall see him tomorrow and make the last decision,” said Pellegrini in his press conference on Monday, as transcribed by the club’s official website.

Cresswell played 56 minutes of the 3-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday before being substituted due to being unable to continue after suffering an injury.

OPINION

Clearly Pellegrini believes having no Cresswell to call upon is a blow for the Hammers otherwise he wouldn’t risk making a late decision regarding his line-up for the clash with Cardiff. The 28-year-old was doing fantastic against the Magpies before injury struck and looked head and shoulders compared to Arthur Masuaku during the match with Manchester City. Cresswell replaced the DR Congo international at half-time during the heavy defeat to Man City and looked like he have proven that he was the better choice at left-back with his display. While it’s annoying that the defender may not miss Tuesday’s clash, given that there’s still a chance he could play a part, it at least shows the hamstring injury isn’t too severe. If Cresswell misses the clash with Warnock’s team, hopefully he is back before you know it as the Hammers do look better with him in their starting line-up as it stands.
