Ian Abrahams was left baffled over why West Ham fans noticeably left early during their side’s 3-1 win over Cardiff City on Tuesday.

The talkSPORT broadcaster was covering the game for the aforementioned radio station on Tuesday and took to his Twitter account to share that he couldn’t understand why Hammers supporters were leaving.

“20mins left and with West Ham 3-0 up, a lot of fans seem to have gone……really don’t understand that,” tweeted Abrahams, also known as ‘Moose’.

“For the record attendance tonight was 56,811.”

OPINION

While Abrahams was clearly left baffled by fans leaving early, it clearly wasn’t done as a sign of disrespect. Hammers supporters were no doubt left buzzing at their side racking up a comfortable win over the Bluebirds as they had lot to be happy about. This was the case because not only did the Hammers get all three points, the goals came courtesy of Lucas Perez and Michail Antonio. Both this players have struggled to impress this season with Perez barely getting an opportunity to feature, so fans were no doubt thrilled that these two in particularly proved they could deliver the goods in the Premier League. Hammers supporters may have to leave due to work commitments or because they felt it was easier and would be less busy if they’re travelling by train, and Moose probably shouldn’t read too much into it. These fans probably thought the game was effectively over, which it was, and didn’t stick around as it would aid them being able to get around sooner. When you consider that 56,811 people were in attendance, getting out of the stadium if you were in a rush at the full-time whistle was surely a headache waiting to happen.
