OPINION
This is a big boost for the Hammers as they head towards the hectic winter schedule, with Silva’s form pre-injury showing that he has what it takes to make an impact in the first-team environment. The young Portuguese forward is quite clearly too good for the Under-23 level, with Silva absolutely dominating games before his unfortunate injury blow. Manager Manuel Pellegrini was reportedly left impressed by the 21-year-old, and his injury could not have come at a worse time. When it happened, the Hammers were only just securing their first points of the Premier League season, and the door was most definitely open for youth players to come in and shake things up. Since his injury however their form has improved massively, and Grady Diangana has become the next youth player to break through. That means that opportunities are much more limited for Silva now, but should he regain the form that saw him net five in six, then that chance will come anyhow.
