Match of the Day host Gary Lineker took to Twitter to praise West Ham United midfielder Felipe Anderson in the 4-2 win over Burnley on Saturday.

The Hammers secured a home win thanks to a brace from the Brazilian trickster, with the other goals coming from Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez – and Lineker had nothing but good words to say about the summer recruit via his personal Twitter account.

He labelled Anderson as a “a good player” following the resounding victory, especially as he had helped give his team the lead in the second half.

Lineker said: “Felipe Anderson has restored West Ham’s lead. What a good player he is.”

OPINION

Anderson has not been really impressing in recent games, but the ace certainly gave Lineker something to shout about here. Having netted two goals that led to West Ham claiming the win, the pundit quickly took to Twitter to praise what  “a good player” he is. Fans will no doubt have their fingers crossed that he now maintains this form after a difficult start to life in the Premier League. He clearly has the tricks and ability to thrive, so the question now remains as to whether he can now keep it up. Based on this display, the signs are looking rather good – and it will be sooner rather than later that he starts to justify his price tag. Lineker was spot on to quickly praise Anderson, as he certainly deserves it after weeks of battering criticism.
