West Ham legend Alvin Martin heaped praise on Felipe Anderson for the player’s performance during the 4-2 win over Burnley on Saturday.

The 60-year-old was asked to highlight one player in particular, effectively his Man of the Match, and dubbed Anderson as his choice despite saying there were several players he could choose from.

Martin pointed out that he thought this could be the start of his Hammers career as it was his best game yet for the London club.

“Well there is certainly a few West Ham players to consider but I have to give it to Anderson, he has had his best game in a West Ham shirt,” said Martin on talkSPORT (Saturday November 3, 16:59).

“Two goals, could have had another couple to be fair, but a couple of good saves by Joe Hart then Mee stopped and denied him one in the first half, I don’t know how, so certainly think this is a start for him in his West Ham career.”

OPINION

Anderson was fantastic against Burnley and was a sight to behold. The 25-year-old winger had been struggling as of late but he showed that he was a worthwhile signing by ensuring the Hammers got the win. Anderson ended the 4-2 victory over Burnley with two goals to his name and will no doubt be showered in praise until his next outing. Hopefully the Brazilian is able to deliver the goods in his next match for the Hammers as when he is on form, he is clearly a player capable of winning his side games. Martin had a host of players to choose from when it came to highlighting one in particular, but he definitely made the right call by drooling over Anderson’s latest display. As the Hammers legend stated hopefully the winger will gain confidence from his latest performance and start to shine brightly for Manuel Pellegrini’s side on a regular basis.
