West Ham must grant Manuel Pellegrini’s wish to reportedly bolster his midfield options by snapping up  Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Drinkwater from Chelsea.

According to Claret & Hugh, the Hammers manager is pushing for the club to sign two new midfielders in January rather than just one after the club’s recent injury problems.

This would be a smart move by the London club as their midfield does look depleted due to injuries, and they need to provide Pellegrini with talented midfielders in order for him to successfully bring success to the London Stadium.

However the Hammers should be able to make quick work of getting the players Pellegrini needs as there are two ideal midfielders currently being starved of opportunities at Chelsea.

Both Danny Drinkwater and Loftus-Cheek have been barely used by the Blues this season and should be a realistically easy to strike a deal for them.

While Loftus-Cheek will potentially be available on loan, there’s no reason why the Hammers couldn’t permanently sign Drinkwater given he seems like he has been forgotten about.

The Hammers have shown their not scared to splash the cash and they should be able to find the funds to buy Drinkwater, while borrowing Loftus-Cheek.

Drinkwater has made only one appearance this season while Loftus-Cheek has appeared five times, however it’s worth noting that the latter has only completed 90 minutes on one occasion.

The Hammers have been linked to both players in recent times, with The Daily Mirror claiming the club were battling Everton for Drinkwater in August, while trusted insider ExWHUemployee shared on the latest episode of The West Ham Way show [33:52] that the club were looking at borrowing Loftus-Cheek in January.

“We want Loftus-Cheek on loan from Chelsea, that’s another option, there’s a few players, again at Chelsea, who could be available for loans,” said the insider.

Both midfielders are proven in the Premier League, have sublime passing ability and could really make the Hammers look strong in midfield, therefore they fit the bill for what Pellegrini is looking for.

Therefore the Hammers must grant Pellegrini’s wish for two new midfielders to arrive by rescuing the duo who are currently being wasted at Stamford Bridge.
