West Ham must go all out to snap up Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish as Manuel Pellegrini needs to add at least a couple of midfielders to his squad in January.
The Hammers look a little depleted in their midfield right now as injury has struck and it’s clear they need to act in the winter window in order to improve the squad depth.
However the London club shouldn’t want to sign just any old player and should go all out to snap up Grealish as he will be able to help their cause as well as continue to improve in order to become a key player at the club.
The 23-year-old Championship star has continued to impress this season in England’s second tier in his 15 league outings after standing out for all the right reasons in his last campaign.
Grealish proved in his 34 appearances across all competition in his 2017/18 campaign, where he registered eight assists, that due to his passing ability and creative vision he was capable of being a side’s attacking spark in midfield.
The playmaker regularly pulled the strings for the Villans last season and it’s clear he has the talent to do the same for the Hammers.
A further testament to his talent is that former Hammers manager Harry Redknapp recently heaped praise of Grealish’s ability and claimed he needed to be playing his football in the Premier League.
“I think he should really be playing in the Premier League,” said the 71-year-old on talkSPORT, as quoted by the broadcaster’s website.
“That’s no disrespect to Villa, either they need to get into the Premier League or he needs to be to in the Premier League.
“I think he’s a marvellous talent. You just want him to get the ball.”
Given that a lot of clubs will no doubt be lurking around Grealish if the Villans don’t look on course for promotion, then the Hammers must go all out to ensure they grab his services.
The Premier League club previously held preliminary talks, according to the Express, over signing the promising talent and need to do more than that to ensure they get him in the winter window.
Therefore given that the Hammers need midfielders and that Grealish is a very talented midfielder who is still relatively young then Pellegrini should ensure his side go all out to get him.
