West Ham must sweat over potentially facing magical midfield duo Christian Eriksen and Mousa Dembele when they face Tottenham after the international break, as the pair could tear the Hammers apart.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are set to host Spurs at the London Stadium on Saturday and it seems that Mauricio Pochettino’s quest for an away win may be aided by Eriksen and Dembele.

The London Evening Standard reported on Monday that after missing games due to injury ahead of the international break Dembele and Eriksen could both return to the fold to face the Hammers.

This would be a fantastic scenario for Spurs as with the creative midfielders in their team, the Hammers will struggle to win the midfield battle and keep Spurs at bay.

Both Eriksen and Dembele are capable of causing the Hammers’ defence nightmares as Eriksen can carve them open with his passing ability while Dembele is able to dribble pass them using his sublime skills.

With the Hammers, as stated by the London Evening Standard, being short in the midfield department due to not having Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere available, then it’s hard to see how Pellegrini is going to be able to stop Eriksen or Dembele having their way when his side face them.

Eriksen has already racked up two assists in his first six league outings of the season while his Belgian teammate has simply impressed in his nine outings across all competitions during the current campaign.

Given that it’s no guarantee that the pair will be fit to face the Hammers on Saturday then Pellegrini may still not have to worry about containing the magical duo.

However until it’s confirmed one way or another West Ham must sweat over potentially facing them as they have no obvious way to stop the pair causing them a headache.
